Day 1: ARRIVE IN VIENTIANE (B)

Arrival in Vientiane, transfer to the hotel. Walk around the downtown to have the first feeling about the capital city of Laos. Late afternoon see the sunset along the banks of Mekong River.

Overnight in Vientiane.

Day 2: VIENTIANE - LUANG PRABANG - KUANG SII WATERFALLS (B)

Morning flight to Luang Prabang, the oldest town and ancient capital of Laos and today the World Heritage City. Visit the Former Royal Palace, Wat Visounalat Temples, the ornate Wat Mai; and Wat Xieng Thong. Take a half-hour drive to visit Kuang Sii waterfalls. Afternoon, drive back to the town, enjoy the sunset over the Mekong River and mountains beyond and a panoramic view of the city and the surrounding countryside from the top of Mt. Phou Si. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Day 3: LUANG PRABANG - PAK OU CAVES (B)

For early-risers there is a very special dawn visit to witness the long lines of orange-robed monks leaving their pagodas to receive offerings of food from residents.

Take a full-day boat trip on the mighty Mekong River to the holy caves Pak Ou where thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues in various sizes are crammed into the two caves. Continue down river to Ban Xang Hai village, where the local residents create a unique rice wine called "Lao Lao". Back to the town to visit the typical Lao village at Ban Xang Khong, a weaving village where the traditional Lao textiles are woven on ancient wooden looms. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Day 4: LUANG PRABANG - VIENTIANE (B)

Morning flight back to Vientiane. Explore the Capital City of Laos including Wat Simuang, Vientiane's most sacred site, and the religious museum at Wat Sisaket, where thousands of statues of Buddha in wood, bronze, and stone are displayed. Stop at Wat Pra Keo, original home of the Emerald Buddha that now resides in Bangkok, the 16th century That Luang Golden Stupa.

Overnight in Vientiane.

Day 5: VIENTIANE - LAKSAO - VINH (B)

Take a full-day scenic drive to Laksao Border crossing for entry into Vietnam (300 km). (Immigration formalities will have already been arranged before arrival at the border crossing). Drive to Vinh city in the north central Vietnam and transfer to the hotel.
